Change to OSSA Accreditation Fee - Effective August 1, 2008
Effective August 1, 2008, the OSSA Accreditation fee will be increased to $2000.00 + GST per program.
Note: Those Training Providers who have submitted a program and which is currently in the Accreditation process prior to August 1, 2008 will not be affected.

OSSA Board of Directors & Chairperson Change

The Oil Sands Safety Association’s Board of Directors would like to communicate the following changes effective immediately:

Chris Jones (COO Albian Sands) has resigned his position with the OSSA Board.

OSSA extends its deepest thanks to Chris for all of the support and leadership he has provided the Association over the past several years.

OSSA welcomes John Rhind (COO Albian Sands) to the Board, who will be replacing Chris.

Kirk Bailey (EVP Suncor Energy) has been appointed the new OSSA Board of Directors Chairperson.

OSSA Staff change – Debbie Bodoano

It is with regret that I announce that Debbie Bodoano (OSSA Project Coordinator) has decided to leave the Oil Sands Safety Association, effective January 3rd, 2008.

Debbie, has been a significant contributor to the success of the Association, over the past 4 years.  She has played a key role in the development of many of the existing standards, processes and products.  Her enthusiasm, passion and leadership will be missed by the staff, Steering Committee and Board of Directors.

On behalf of the Association, please join me in wishing Debbie all the best in her future endeavors.

Board of Director Change – November 2007

The Oil Sands Safety Association’s Board of Directors would like to communicate the following changes effective immediately:

Peter Janson has replaced Bob Carson representing Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. and will assume the Vice Chair role.

Martin Abbott has replaced Warren St. Peter representing Albian Sands Energy Inc.

The Board wishes to thank Warren and Bob for their contribution to the Association over the past year.

Revised “draft” Fall Protection Standard:
The revised “Fall Protection Standard” draft for review has been removed from the website; therefore the OSSA will not be accepting any further feedback.

Once the OSSA has approved the final copy of the standard it will be posted on the OSSA website and must then be utilized as a reference or for development of fall protection training program content for submission and approval.

Fall Protection Standard – Draft Review:
The OSSA has updated the Fall Protection Safety Training Standard and provided a copy of the standard for your review. Once you have reviewed the standard please provide feedback to this office by email (debbie.dakin@ossa-wb.ca) no later than February 14th, 2007.
Once the OSSA has approved the final copy of the standard it will be posted on the OSSA website and must then be utilized as a reference to develop training program content for submission and approval.

“Draft” Fall Protection Standard for Review

This is the first "draft" copy of the re-write of the OSSA Fall Protection Safety Training Standard.  (Dated April 20, 2006)

Note:  The recommended changes are highlighted in green font through out the document and are based on:

• Any Legislative changes to OH&S; CSA; and/or ANSI Standards
• Feedback from stakeholders including current Fall Protection Training Providers
• Learning’s and feedback from the Fall Protection Accreditation Teams experience over the last 3 years

The “draft” standard will remain on the OSSA website until June 15, 2006. Should you wish to provide any feedback and/or recommendations for consideration prior to the Owner Members endorsing the new Fall Protection Standard, please email your feedback to info@ossa-wb.ca.  Thank you.
