New OSSA Executive Director

The Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Avery from Shell Albian Sands as their new Executive Director.

Scott brings with him years of experience in operations and maintenance, management and contractor safety gained from two of our members sites, Syncrude and Shell Albian Sands.  He is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead in the support of OSSA's Vision and Mission.

Expiration of old Safety Training Standards

On December 31, 2011 all OSSA Accredited Programs based on the old standards expire. Credentials may no longer be issued for the following standards: FP2006-11, FW2005-10, AWP2009-19, CSE2005-08 and CSM2005-10.

Note: The expiration dates of training credentials issued for the above programs, are valid as printed.

Effective January 1, 2012. All OSSA Credentials issued for Accredited Programs based on the current standards (FP2010, FW2010, EWP2010 and CSE/M2010) must have an OSSA Security label attached to the front of the card.

October 21, 2011 - Congratulations to the Alberta Labourers' Training Trust Fund  as the first OSSA Training Provider Accredited for the new Fall Protection standard. To register contact Alberta Labourers' Training Trust Fund.

July 21, 2011 - Congratulations to Fusion Safety Services Ltd. as the first OSSA Training Provider Accredited for the new Confined Space Entry/Monitor standard. To register contact Fusion Safety Services Inc.

June 2, 2011 - Congratulations to Advantage Learning Solutions Inc. as the first OSSA Training Provider to be Accredited for the new Fire Watch standard. To register contact Advantage Learning Solutions Inc.
